Founded in Istanbul in 1957 by Oktay Demirağ and commencing operations under the name Altınboğa, the company began manufacturing original spare parts for various automotive brands in 1965 at its factory—featuring 3,500 square meters of indoor space—located on the shores of the Golden Horn.
Between 1970 and 1979, Altınboğa engaged in the production of diesel engines and passenger vehicles; with a workforce of 250 employees, the company developed vehicles across two categories and diesel engines with four different power ratings.
In the 1990s, Altınboğa produced Turkey’s first 100% domestically manufactured commercial vehicle, equipping its vehicles with its own proprietary diesel engines from the prototype stage onwards.
In 1996, the company became the sole authorized distributor in Turkey for the liquid-cooled, multi-cylinder internal combustion engines of Kubota Corporation—a Japanese global giant founded in Osaka in 1890 that manufactures products across various sectors.
Having evolved into a company possessing its own proprietary technology and expertise, Altınboğa Makina began producing "Albo" generators—available in marine, mobile, and standard types—in 2005; as of 2020, it continues this production under the corporate identity of Albosan Makina San. ve Tic. Ltd. Şti.
